CFR Case Studies
Charterhouse Voice and Data has successfully leveraged both its solution portfolio and revamped its professional services capability to audit customer carbon footprints. The case study examples below give an indication of how our CFR capability has made a tangible difference to both the sustainability and marketability of our clients.
Ed Coms
Ed Coms is a City-based consultancy firm that works with clients on change and repositioning projects. Many of these relate to green issues and they were under pressure to demonstrate their environmental credentials and to "practice what they preach". They approached CVD for "green reprographics" and a new communications platform. Our solution made a big difference:
- Duplex and mono print and copy as default
- No longer "push paper" internally
- "Best Practice" established by directors: let employees change how they work
- Recycling encouraged and lower paper consumption expected
- IP telephony and teleworking allows them to work from anywhere
- Combined with BlackBerry solution to eliminate unnecessary travel
- Now have a credible story to tell, not just "lip service"
Shepherds Bush Housing Group
SBHG owns and manages 5,000 properties across 11 London boroughs, building around 300 new homes every year. Their reprographics estate was highly piecemeal across sites and departments with no networking, mainly desktop printer usage (single-sided only), limited scanner use and extensive/expensive fax machine usage. Moreover, they had a sizeable document archiving and retrieval challenge with 108 metres of vertical filing in head office alone. They needed to work together better and be more environmentally-friendly. Our solution enabled the following working practices:
- MFDs replaced single-tasking machines across the Group
- Significant reduction in total power consumption & CO2 emissions
- Major space savings meant more desks in the same office space
- Duplex mode nearly halved paper consumption for print
- Production and finishing capabilities meant inhouse document creation
- Reduced the costs, overhead and footprint of documentation
- Document management across sites eliminated courier use
- £90,000 per annum saving on document delivery costs
- Much more environmentally-friendly as an organisation
- Reduction in carbon footprint and costs, all with greater user capabilities
TP Bennett
TP Bennett is an international architect and design firm, heavily involved in sustainability in their industry. They were looking for a solution to change the way they work, communicate, travel and collaborate on client projects. Charterhouse developed a phased solution to revolutionise their processes:
- IP telephony and hotdesking allowed them to work from any office location
- Teleworking and mobile extension meant working from home and on the move
- Audio conferencing allowed staff, suppliers and clients to communicate instantly
- Presence and availability tools enabled seamless communication from anywhere
- Collaboration tools enabled true virtual meetings
- Reduced travel, reduced costs and elimination of paper dependency
- Client project information accessed and collaboration achieved easily
