Unified Communications (UC)

Unified Communications (UC) is an industry "umbrella" term for several technologies that converge to facilitate a uniform and consolidate workflow for users and workgroups. No two definitions of UC are the same; however, Charterhouse - as borne out by our Awards & Achievements - has been recognised in our industry as being a leading, award-winning, Unified Communications expert, so we like to think we know what we're talking about.

So what is UC? It's not just one thing, it's a series of things:

  • Unified Communications means a single inbox for all your messages
  • Unified Communications means dealing with customers over any media from one place
  • Unified Communications means talking to people using the right medium
  • Unified Communications means moving from communicating to collaborating
  • Unified Communications means that you can work the same way anywhere
  • Unified Communications means that however you work, you can do it better

IP telephony enables the whole thing. Flexible working enables UC from anywhere. Contact centres extend UC into the customer service domain. And eWorking facilitates the conferencing and collaboration that makes UC a reality.

Confused? We wouldn't be surprised. At Charterhouse, we don't really like the term "unified communications" as we think it creates more confusion than clarity. But we understand it better than most and we'd love to help you make sense of it all. For us, it's a question of understanding how you want to work and communicate internally and externally; we can help with everything else. Contact us to find out how.
