Volunteering England

The Customer

Volunteering England (VE) is the national volunteering development agency for England, committed to supporting, enabling and celebrating volunteering in all its diversity. Their work links research, policy, innovation, good practice and grant-making in the involvement of volunteers.

The Challenge

Replace end of life phone system and unfit-for-purpose insecure network whilst reducing the costs of landline and mobile telephony, as well as promoting "employee inclusiveness" for remote users and volunteers.

The Solution

Single-supplier converged LAN, security and IP telephony set-up with desktop unified communications tool including video to bring together desk-based and outlying user community.

The Result

Self-sufficiency for adds, moves and changes along with 30% reduction in annual bills; remote workers feel part of the organisation; future-proofed for applications integration.

End-to-end IP convergence provides expansion, remote working capabilities and simplified management.

Charterhouse provided Volunteering England with Cisco LAN switching, Cisco ASA security appliance, Cisco CallManager IP telephony and Cisco IP communicator along with Charterhouse Network Services.

“I've been delighted with both the solution and the service we've received from Charterhouse. The Cisco solution was not only ideal for our needs but it was also more cost-effective than we'd anticipated. We can now expand easily and manage day-to-day changes with ease. CVD's technical and commercial expertise has also impressed us greatly.”
