Careers – success stories

Jonathan Goodman

Reprographics Sales Manager

"After graduating from Manchester University I started at Charterhouse in a Junior Salesman role, with absolutely no experience at all. My first two and a half years were based around generating appointments for one of the senior salesman at the time. I attended meetings with the senior salesman until I had learned and gained enough knowledge to lead my own meeting from start to finish, winning some high profile accounts for the company. I am now Manager to the whole reprographics sales team consisting of 8 people. Growing from only 2 people to 8 in a space of just 10 months."

Denise Macey

PA to Simon Cornwell Owner/Sales Director

"I came to Charterhouse only to do a 3 week temp job on reception. However after showing much potential I was then offered a permanent position that I gladly accepted. My basic daily duties would vary from ordering couriers to assisting the previous PA to Simon. After continuously showing potential in my work I was soon rewarded employee of the month and thereafter was promoted to PA of which brings us to my present position."

Kate Berridge

Project Manager

"Starting Charterhouse as an IT call controller I was soon cross trained in all areas of service. In this role I dealt with small orders for IT clients and assisted the IT project manager with projects. I soon joined the project management team as an IT Project Coordinator and managed small installations for IT and touched base briefly with telecoms projects.

I was soon promoted to Project Manager running various types of projects without assistance and was cross trained to manage telecoms installations in addition to IT I had already been working on. As a project manager I have shown great achievement in successfully installing the following solutions: Cisco Call Manager systems and applications, Mitel Phone systems and applications, Cabling projects, CCTV and IT networks."

Mark Stephens

Head of Group Services

"Joining Charterhouse as a senior installation/Maintenance Engineer, for the telecoms division, I soon progressed by incorporating a level of pre-sales into my role. This involved attendance of pre-sale meetings and customer system design. Along with this role I was also placed in charge of all field based engineers for telecoms installation and maintenance. I was then promoted to the position I'm in today ‘Head of Group Services'. My duties now include the overall management of both Telecoms and IT Services. I am also responsible for the project management and service desk groups."

Maya Abrahams

Project Manager

"I started working for CVD in a sales role for Cisco Business along side Mandy (the Development Manager). The aim of my role was to prepare proposals, visit clients, deal with suppliers and be back-end support for BDM, Registering prospects with Cisco and to organize demonstrations for both new and existing clients.

After 9 months I was asked if I'd like to join the Telecoms team as an internal Account Manager with the aim of being an internal resource for our clients. This was both successful and enjoyable however I wasn't looking to stay in a competitive target based work field and was soon given the opportunity to join the Project Management Team."
