Doing Our Bit for the Royal Wedding

It's not so much a slow news week as a one story week. In case you hadn't noticed, there seems to be a wedding happening. Charterhouse and our staff will be more than just interested observers; we'll be right in the middle of the action.

One of our most prestigious clients is Central Hall Westminster. As you'll see from the photo, it's located in Parliament Square, next to Westminster Abbey, with a prime view of the door where William and Kate will enter the Abbey tomorrow.

We pretty much manage CHW's entire technology estate and also work with them for special events. This certainly qualifies. Below is the view from the balcony at CHW overlooking the Abbey.

The Square itself will be, to understate the case significantly, somewhat busy on Friday 29th April. CHW will have visitors inside and outside with which they will have to contend, along with the world's media check the top left of the photo below). To help them cope, we've installed temporary fibre connections inside and outside the building, linked to outside broadcast feeds. We've installed IPTV throughout the building, including a large screen in the window for the watching public on the street.

To take advantage of the unique vantage point, so it can be shared onsite and around the world, we've installed a temporary IP camera on the roof with ultra-high resolution and a powerful zoom that gives some impressive shots, which we'll share with you later.

We've had engineers onsite for one and a half weeks doing their bit to prepare for the wedding. And a few lucky members of staff will be onsite from 6am tomorrow doing final checks and getting ready for the action to begin, all with a view to die for.

Next week, we'll post some actual photos of the happy couple entering and leaving the building. Hopefully we won't end up slightly further east in the Tower for doing so...

Enjoy the long weekend!
